About the Airport
The Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (FNL) is an FAA certified general aviation airport located on the high plains along the Interstate 25 corridor approximately fifty-five miles north of Denver. The airport currently has commercial airline service and also serves corporate and general aviation needs. The closest commercial/commuter airport is Denver International Airport in Denver.
In addition, the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport has convenient nearby accommodations and access to the area's many recreational amenities, including Rocky Mountain National Park. The runway, which is 8,500 feet long and 100 feet wide, is serviced with high-intensity lighting and an instrument landing system. You will experience direct, no-delay, all weather ATC approaches to the airport's ILS runway with full ILS, VOR/DME and RNAV.
The Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (FNL) is jointly owned and operated by the Cities of Fort Collins and Loveland. Located in the heart of Northern Colorado, FNL is an FAA-certified commercial service and general aviation airport that serves an important role as transportation infrastructure for the two cities and the surrounding region. The closest commercial/commuter airport is Denver International Airport in Denver.
FNL opened in 1964 with one runway and a handful of aircraft. Since then the airport has grown to a 1,100-acre facility with an 8,500-foot runway, parallel taxiway, instrument landing system, 245 based aircraft, commercial air service, and a host of aviation businesses providing excellent services to the aviation traveler and aircraft owner. Current on-site services include:
- fixed base operations
- fuel sales
- flight instruction (fixed wing and helicopter)
- aircraft maintenance/upgrades
- aircraft engine overhaul
- avionics sales and service
- aviation weather/camera systems sales and maintenance
- commercial air carrier service
- hangar rentals
FNL’s long-term vision is to remain a vibrant regional transportation facility. Proposed improvements identified in FNL’s Master Plan include a 1,000-foot extension of the existing runway, construction of an air traffic control tower, a new passenger terminal, and a parallel runway; development of additional hangars; and many more.
